
Dr. Md Shahadath Hossain is an Assistant Professor (Instruct) at the University of Houston, specializing in Applied Microeconomics with a focus on Development Economics, Labor Economics, and Health Economics. His research addresses pressing issues such as child malnutrition, the effects of safety net programs on informal sector workers, and pathways to reducing intergenerational poverty, with a strong emphasis on policy-relevant
analyses and applications.
Dr. Hossain brings significant expertise in survey research in Bangladesh, leveraging advanced quantitative methodologies to explore complex economic and social challenges. His research has been featured in respected journals, including Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Development and Migration, and Migration and Development. Through his work, Dr. Hossain’s works inform economic and health policy
in Bangladesh and Subsaharan Africa. Dr. Hossian holds an M.A. in Economics from Central Michigan University in Michigan, USA, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Binghamton University in New York, USA
